Following a successful Coast to Coast bike ride last year, Elsevier Exeter are organising Second Annual Ride Across Devon on Friday 21 July!

We are looking for lots of adventurous bike riders to take part, with the ride totally 126.4km, or 78.5 miles, according to according to mapmyride.com and this year the ride will be fundraising for the Victorian walled garden at Nethercott House.

Details of the ride

The plan is to start from the car park at Barnstaple Rail Station, following the Tarka Trail out through Instow, Bideford and Torrington, to the top of the trail at Meeth. Riders can then either follow a road route through Hatherleigh or an exciting byway trip, including an offroad section and river crossing (weather permitting), to a lunch stop at Farms For City Children’s Devon Farm, Nethercott House.

From there the route will head across mid-Devon, taking in Winkleigh, Eggesford, Chawleigh, Thelbridge, Black Dog, Kennerleigh, Sandford, Newton St Cyres and Upton Pyne, before joining the top of the Exe Estuary Trail in Exeter and heading for the seaside again at Exmouth and a well-deserved drink in the garden of The Grove.
