“Seven years have elapsed since MM crossed the line at the London Marathon and vowed never to be so stupid again. He has been true to his word but a new challenge has arisen and MM plans to ride his bike from Land’s-End to John O’Groats at the end of May.

MM  is now undergoing arduous training with help from his peloton who accompany him on Sundays from home to cake-shop and back again in the vain hope of getting fit enough to ride 1000 miles without serious personal damage.

MM will be crossing the Severn Bridge on Wednesday 25 May on route to Tintern and Monmouth. This is a particularly scenic part of the ride and he hopes a few cyclists from this area will join the ride for half a day. The plan is to raise money for Farms for City Children, one of whose farms is at Wick Court. There is a sponsorship page on the Just Giving website and an old fashioned clipboard and pencil (and donation Box) at the surgery in Frampton.

ALL donations go to the farm as MM is funding all his own expenses including cake. He is riding as part of an organised group backed up by a van carrying a puncture outfit and a spare set of underwear. The particular project at Wick court that he is fundraising for, is to provide an outdoor cooking and barbecue area for the children. Particular projects at present are the improvement of the Woodland area and the building of a wood fired bread and pizza oven so that the children can spend longer outside and cook and eat.

MM will post regular updates on the Justgiving site, if he can work out how to do it.”
