2021 Service Dealer Awards raises £3,500 for Farms for City Children

On 25th November over a hundred representatives from the garden and farm machinery, turfcare, and outdoor power equipment industries came together for the annual Service Dealer Conference and Awards in Oxfordshire.

Every year the organisers, Service Dealer, choose a charity to support in their Awards ceremony raffle, this year we were thrilled to be chosen. During the awards, attendees saw a short film about our work, and took part in a raffle to win, among other prizes, a hamper of produce from our Devon farm, and a set of books signed by our founder Sir Michael Morpurgo.

The generosity of attendees was overwhelming, raising a total of £3,428.50. Our Corporate Fundraising Manager Lisa met Service Dealer’s Jenni Green to handover the donation.

Jenni said “After the challenging 18 months we have all had, we recognise now, more than ever, how important it is to connect with the outdoors and nature. Farms For City Children therefore seemed the perfect choice for this year’s event and it was clear from the generosity of our guests how much the story of the charity resonated with them too. We are delighted to have been able to support such a worthy cause.”

Lisa added “We would like to say a huge thank you to the event organisers, and all of the attendees who have been so generous. The money they have donated will be spent welcoming children from some of the most densely populated communities in the country to spend a magical week with us on our farms. Many of them have faced previously unimaginable challenges during the pandemic and a week with us not only allows them time and space in the countryside, but also helps them to grow their confidence and re-establish relationships. This work would not be possible without the genorousity of our supporters”.
