On Saturday 19 September, join us between 11am – 6pm for a golden celebration of food, farming and heritage at the Wick Court Harvest Gathering.
Along with local partners, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal, vibrant music and brush up on your heritage knowledge at the same time as supporting Farms for City Children! There will also be the chance to pick and juice fruit from our orchards, check out a vintage tractor display, sample rural crafts and enjoy a local drink from the bar.
Entry is free of charge and all ages are welcome at this festival of food, farming and heritage.
🐄 Gloucester Cattle Society will be sharing the story of the famous Wick Court cattle sale that inspired the creation of the Heritage Breed Association, alongside our very own Gloucester cows and calves.
🌳 Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust – Severn Treescapes will be exploring the importance of oak trees in our landscape, including the two veteran oaks at Wick Court.
🏡 Uncover the fascinating history of Wick Court Manor House and hear memories of the Dowdeswell sisters who once lived here.
🍎 Heritage Orchard Specialist Martin Hayes will lead orchard walks, discussing the area’s rich fruit-growing heritage. Guests can also enjoy fruit collecting, pressing demonstrations, and a look at our ancient presses.
🍽️ The Long Table will be co-curating a delicious menu of locally sourced produce for lunch and afternoon tea, helping to support Farms for City Children through their pay-what-you-can model.
🍏 Working with local artisan cider maker Tom Glover, visitors can sample Wick Court cider and freshly pressed apple juice. Adults will also be able to purchase local cider and juice through Bushell & Peck.
🎵 Bewelian will be providing live music throughout the day for everyone to enjoy.
🚜 Thanks to our local supporters, farmers and contractors, guests will also be able to explore a display of vintage farm machinery.
