Celebrating our roots, growing our future: Impact Report 2025-26

We are delighted to share our latest annual impact report, celebrating not only the achievements of the past year but also a significant milestone for Farms for City Children: our 50th anniversary.

Reviewing the year September 2025 to August 2026, the report highlights the impact that a week on our farms continues to have on the lives of children and young people, five decades after our charity was founded.

At a time when opportunities to spend time in nature, connect with the farm to fork journey and achieve beyond the classroom are becoming increasingly limited, our work has never been more important. With rising financial pressures on schools and families, we’re more committed than ever to removing barriers to the immersive experiences we offer on our farms.

Against this backdrop, we were proud to have welcomed more than 3,500 children and young people to our farms in Devon, Gloucestershire and Pembrokeshire last year. Our young farmers cared for livestock, harvested vegetables, explored coastlines, fields and woodlands. They have discovered new skills, confidence, friendships and a deeper connection with the natural world. We also welcomed a record number of young people for whom English is an additional language, increased participation from SEND schools and hosted more Welsh schools at Lower Treginnis than ever before.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we continue to reach children and young people who might otherwise miss out on these experiences, while strengthening our commitment to nature-friendly farming, biodiversity and environmental stewardship.

Since Farms for City Children was founded by Clare and Michael Morpurgo in 1976, more than 108,000 children and young people have experienced a life-changing week on one of our farms. As we look to the future, we believe that opportunities to connect with food, farming and nature should be a routine part of every childhood.

With your continued support, we can help thousands more children learn, grow and thrive through a transformative week on the farm for many years to come. Find out how more about how you can get involved in the Support us area of the website.
