Celebrating 50 years of growing, learning and thriving on our farms!

This week marks a very special milestone for Farms for City Children – 50 years since our very first school arrived at Nethercott House. What started as our founders Clare and Michael Morpurgo’s powerful vision to give children the chance to discover the joy of spending time in nature and to understand they belonged to a wider world has grown into something quite extraordinary. In the last five decades, we’ve seen over 105,000 children and young people learn, grow and thrive on our farms.

To begin this very special year, our founders Clare and Michael share some of their reflections on the last fifty years of Farms for City Children; how it all began, why the work we do feels more important than ever and the vital role that your support plays.

Share in our year of celebrations!

We’ve got lots of exciting things planned throughout 2026 including:

  • Celebration events across all three farms.
  • A special anniversary competition for visiting schools and groups, The further adventures of the Golden Goose!
  • Sharing voices from across the decades, from children, teachers to our staff, volunteers and supporters.
  • Plenty of stories and videos of life on the farm as we mark this special year.

Make sure you’re signed up to our news updates so you don’t miss out!

Join us as we look ahead to fifty more years and beyond

We’d love you to be part of this golden anniversary year and help us create even more life‑changing experiences for children and young people. Whether you donate, volunteer or simply help share what we do, your support will make it possible for future generations to grow happier and healthier as they connect to food, farming and nature on our farms.

Here’s to 50 years of magical weeks in wellies – and working together to create many many more in the future!
