Croeso Gethin! Welcome to our new Farm School Manager at Lower Treginnis

We’re excited to welcome our new Farm School Manager Gethin Jones – find out why he’s excited to be leading the team at Lower Treginnis and what he’s been up to since starting in this blog…

Hi! My name is Gethin and I am the Farm School Manager at Lower Treginnis, Pembrokeshire. Working at Lower Treginnis is a dream come true for me and my family, who for many years desired to move back to Wales to be closer to our wider family network. Although it has meant some sacrifice and moving to somewhere incredibly remote, it has very much been a case of coming home!

The location of Lower Treginnis is stunning and to be able to share our beautiful coastal farm with the children that visit us is a really special thing and something I am grateful for each and every day.

Having worked as the Farm School Manager at Lower Treginnis since January, I can honestly say that, although I sometimes leave work feeling very tired, I also leave feeling hugely fulfilled by what I witness on the farm. I am a huge advocate for outdoor learning and to have such a key role in managing a site that provides that offer fills me with so much pride and joy.

In the short time I have been here, I have already seen well over 100 children visit this farm and, from conversations with both children and staff, have seen the impact a week on one of our farms can have – ranging from a greater awareness of environmental stewardship, improved social skills and greater confidence to a renewed sense of purpose, citizenship and relationship to our natural world.

I am so proud of the team we have here at Lower Treginnis who not only share their specialism and craft with such enthusiasm and passion, but also invest in the children in a way that nurtures relationships that last way beyond a week on our farm.
