Explore Nethercott’s Victorian walled garden this summer

On Wednesday 6 August, Nethercott House will open its gates for a special Open Garden afternoon in the heart of Devon.

From 1pm to 4.30pm (last entry 4pm), visitors are invited to stroll through our spectacular Victorian kitchen garden, usually only accessible to children and young people on residential stays.

This is a rare opportunity to experience the beauty and tranquillity of Nethercott House – the original Farms for City Children location founded by Michael and Clare Morpurgo in 1976.

Open Garden Net

Nestled just outside the village of Iddesleigh, with sweeping lawns and views to Dartmoor, the garden is a place of colour and calm. It’s where children harvest vegetables they’ve helped grow, learn about where their food comes from and enjoy time immersed in nature and the outdoors.

Visitors will be able to explore the grounds at their own pace, enjoy a garden tour led by our Gardener, Janette Bradford, and finish the afternoon with a cream tea served in the house. There’ll also be refreshments on the lawn, stalls and a chance to learn more about the charity’s work.

All proceeds from the event will support Farms for City Children and the children who benefit from a week on our farms.

🎟 Tickets are £7 for adults and can be booked online at: https://www.trybooking.com/uk/events/landing/83496

We hope to see you there!
