Reaping the rewards of a September residential

Reaping the rewards of a September residential

September isn’t a typical month for school residentials. Understandably, time and focus is on welcoming pupils back to school and settling them into new routines.  However, for many schools who have taken the leap and visited us in September, the impact on their year ahead has been so positive that they’ve made it an annual fixture on their school calendar.

Prior Weston Farms for City Children

Prior Weston Primary School from Islington is always first in line for our September weeks. Assistant Head Aoife McMonagle and fellow Year 6 teacher Hannah Perkins shared the reasons why:

“Prior Weston has a very special, long-standing tradition of being one of the first (if not the first) schools to book the first September slots. We feel very strongly that this has an overwhelmingly positive impact on a number of levels. Bringing the children away in the early academic year fosters positive relationships that build the foundation for the coming year.

It is a wonderful and unique opportunity to see children’s personalities and interests which we then capitalise on throughout the year on our return to school. It allows skillsets to shine through in a non-academic environment, bringing a feel of success and belonging for children. This boosts their self-esteem and confidence allowing them to start the rest of their year on a positive note.

For Year 6 cohorts, like ourselves, it’s also a special bonding opportunity for their children in their last year of primary school. It accelerates the relationships between adults and children which builds a sense of community.”

Why not give your pupils the opportunity to get their school year off to an amazing start with a week on one of our farms? We still have a limited number of weeks available for September 2026 and our bookings team would love to chat to you about what we can offer, so please do get in touch.
