We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Caroline Lucas and Jonathon Porritt as new Farms for City Children ambassadors. Both renowned environmental leaders, they bring their shared passion for nature, education and sustainability to champion our work.
Caroline and Jonathon recently spent time at our Nethercott House farm in Devon, joining activities with visiting children and learning firsthand about the work we do connecting children to nature and the natural world. They also spent time with Farm Operations Manager Adam Bratt, learning more about the ways we involve young people in projects aimed at protecting wildlife and nature across the farm.

Former leader of the Green Party Caroline said: “I’m absolutely delighted to become a Farms for City Children ambassador. One of the reasons it matters so much to me is that I’ve seen, first hand, just how much the young people themselves get out of the experience, how much extra wellbeing, confidence and joy they experience.
“I genuinely believe that unless we connect our young people to the natural world we are not only depriving them of a richness in their own lives but we’re also depriving nature of new ambassadors who are going to be real advocates for environmental protection.”
Jonathon, co-founder of Forum for the Future, added “Becoming an ambassador for the charity is a real treat for me personally. The value of young people actually seeing the productive side of nature, where we get our food from, how it’s grown, how it gets from farm to fork, is educationally really important. It’s something that doesn’t happen enough and I’m delighted to support the work that Farms for City Children does.”
Our Chief Executive, Corinna Csaky, joined Caroline and Jonathon for the visit and commented: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Caroline and Jonathon as ambassadors for Farms for City Children. Their passion for the natural world, their commitment to young people and their deep understanding of why this work matters makes them inspiring champions for our charity. Having them spend time on the farm, engaging with young people and seeing the impact of our work up close, has meant a great deal to us. We’re thrilled to have their support as we continue giving more children and young people the chance to connect with nature in meaningful, life enhancing ways.”
